Steeping Tea Information

To Drink Tea, First Steep Tea

Preparing Hot Tea:

Fill the kettle with fresh, filtered water (6oz per cup) and heat to a rolling boil. For green and white tea, stop short of boiling to avoid “cooking” the delicate leaves.

Warm the teapot by swirling in a splash of the steamy water and then pour it out.

Add approximately one teaspoon of tea or herbs or one tea bag per 6 oz. of water, Place directly into the teapot, infusing basket or mug.

Pour water over the tea, cover and infuse to taste. We suggest you steep the tea varieties using the following guidelines.

White Short of boiling(180°F) 30-60 Seconds 2 minutes
Green Short of boiling(180°F) 1-3 minutes 2 minutes
Oolong Almost Boiling(190°F) 3-5 minutes 3 minutes
Black Boiling(210°F) 3-5 minutes 4 minutes
Rooibos/Herb/Fruit Boiling(210°F) 5-7 minutes 6 minutes

Experiment to find your favored steeping time. Remove the infuser or tea bag. If using a tea pot, pour the tea into a cup or thermos. Enjoy sip by sip.

Preparing Iced Tea:

Prepare a double strength infusion of hot tea (follow the instructions above.) Strain and cool to room temperature. Pour cooled tea over ice, Sip and smile.
